Pineapple and banana smoothie

Pineapple and banana smoothie - skin healing recipe

Like most fruits, pineapples are a really good source of essential minerals and vitamins, particularly vitamin C. Pineapples are also high in fibre making them great for digestive health.

They contain an enzyme called bromelain, which is thought to have anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties so are a good addition to a skin-healing diet.

Next time you’re suffering from a sinus infection, eat some pineapple. Some studies have shown pineapple thins mucus giving you relief from sinusitis.

We love this smoothie in my house. Using frozen pineapple makes it really cold and the addition of the lime juice means it’s refreshingly tangy.

Ingredients

100g frozen pineapple
1 banana
150 mls almond milk
1 tbsp lime juice

Serves 1

Directions

Simply place all of the ingredients in a blender and blend.

Tip: this smoothie doesn’t separate like some others so will keep really well in the fridge if you don’t plan to drink it straight away.

Eating a wide variety of fruits and vegetables is one of the best things you can do for your skin.
